Thrift Store finds

These old checks are super!!! Love the age of them and look at that date! 1896!!

I had picked out 4 of them..he wanted 50cents each..but ended up getting them for free..he forgot to ring them up and said oh heck, you can have them...he had a huge stack of them..that's what I really wanted..but not at 50c each...(these were at a local antique mall)

Gooodwill was brimming with finds for me today!

Found some old books:

The copyright was '46 inside that Emily Post book..

This one was Home Bible studies..had to have it:

You don't see the ends marbled too often..plus there were great illustrations inside too..

I was on the hunt for an old bingo game, but found this instead:

When I saw the cover, I knew this would feed my letter addiction...

Lo and behold..they are super fat and cute and a whole little box full of them!

It looked to be 60's or 70's and must have been in the closet for along time..it was all there..looking as good as new, except the box was a bit worn..but I don't want the box anyway..

This box, I had to get for the insides..but the box is cool too with the metal re-enforcements on the corners and the graphics were a plus too.

These old bobbers will be of some good use in a mixed media piece I'm sure..

Swap Goodness

OMyGosh..ya'll !!! I have to show you the goodness my Flickr partner Lisa sent me! She decorated the outsides and insides of it all..it was just one thing after another to look at! Her attention to detail is wonderful...


I have to confess, I've been very jaded about swapping lately..I have felt slighted more than enough times this last year...

But, this Vintage Ephemera flickr group, I'm in..these gals know how to swap!!!

I have lusted after some vintage Valentines for awhile now, for I have only found a very few that I would pay for..WELL, Lisa was very, very generous with hers to me!!!

We had to fill up a candy box with goodness..I just thought I stuffed my full to her...she gave a new meaning to over filled..lol

She even gave me a file folder (decorated of course) full of papers and sheet music and such..

So...there you have it..some of that goodness Lisa shared with me...It's been such fun 'meeting' people thru blogs and flickr from all over that share the same interests..you don't feel so alone when there is no one in your neighborhood how has the same addictions to paper and ephemera!

Soldered House Swap

Been working today on that...looking thru photos, working on them, getting it just right..

Then finding background papers, words and such...

These two children are my Mother and one of her brothers. They are the first 2 out of 5.. I love the look on their faces...kinda lost, sweet and her coat, I love her coat...This had to be in the 30's ..

I can see my Mammaw fussing over them and getting their hair just so..even licking down a piece whtat wouldn't lay straight..you've done that haven't you? licked down a bit of your child's hair that refused to do as it should? I know I have..

Got a bit of it done..but not finished yet, by a long shot..

Sweet Treats

And who said they had to be fattening??

This yummy goodness is brought to you from a recent shopping trip..

Vintage Seam binding, old buttons, rick rack, and buttons,and belt buckles from a shop in Ducanville, Texas..add some old pearl chain from a recent Etsy purchase from Canada and you have a well rounded plate...

We made our mix while we were doing all this shopping...Snarky remarks, jabs and jibs..laughs and fun all mixed well with some ideas thrown in..what better treats than that?

Starbucks? Maybe??

This Red White and Blue cover was on the cups on Tuesday..

Then a Chai with a snazzy orange cover was had the next day for a treat..

So, enjoy your treats, whether they be food or not and if you had fun, then that's just icing on the proverbial cake!

House Swap

My flickr friend Heather and I are swapping House Charms...it all started last week, when I posted some of mine on my flickr site. She posted back to me that she had some waiting to be soldered on her work table..

She posted hers the other day and I loved what she had made..so we decided to swap a house with each other..and to add to the fun, we are just sending each other one. Neither of us know which one we will receive..how fun is that? Hers went in the mail today! I have had more fun meeting people on flickr and blogs that have the same intrestes and such..but why do they have to be soooo far away??? So far no one close as in the same county...

I've added 4 more to my Etsy shop:

I'm enamored with that boy with the cocked hat~ I just had to use him then found what I thought was the perfect line for him....The 50's lady with the glasses came out of a Pillsbury cook-off book...The 2 brothers house, is another that I just love the faces on these fellows...Then there are my two little street urchin girls..I just had to use them again..they are together in this one, I've been cutting them apart, they were not happy being apart..so they got to be in a house together this time.

I have to be drawn to these photos before I even use them...they must speak to me some way. Are you like that with things? Faces and eyes..love eyes..eyes on people, eyes on animals, eyes on dolls...eyes say alot...

Remember when,

You where a kid, and got fussed at for slamming the screen door??? Well, now I have my own screen door! Hub put it up the other night, and boy I'm happy...open it up and the wind just flows thru the Shop Shack....


We put old License plates at the bottom of it for a kick plate..I love how it looks..


When you walk out of the screen door here is what you see:

We have a "Garage" with a house attached:
Hence the name our son gave our house, the Shop Shack~

So, when people ask where we live, I tell them a 'barn' it's much easier to say then a shop..But then they think we have animals..no animals here..just 'toys' I love my screen door and love slamming it as I walk out..no one fusses at me now~

Wednesday! Already??!!

EEEegads..where have the days went??

I know yesterday seemed to fly..found some new curtains for the living/ kitchen area at a local Rustic Texas type store that was liquidating..then ran to Ross for some rods and clips to hang them with...

I've been trying to spend an hour or so a day, scrounging thru my things for items to sell on vendor night at Paper Cowgirl. I've filled up one little travel bag with goodies and now starting on another one..I have waaayy too much stuff and am going to share with all ya'll that come to vendor night!



I have more vintage jars to fill with goodies, but here is a start of it:

We went out to dinner last night with hub's friends, we had a good time, but I ate/drank way too much and tossed and turned all night long..seems like the good sleep came just before I had to get up..and we had to get up early, for hub had to get his truck into the shop to spray bed-liner in it. I came home and washed my car while it was still shady and cool. Now the rest of the day is going to be spent INSIDE the house!

I wanted to show you one of my favorite dolls in my studio:
I made her a few years back with a Nicol Sayer pattern. I have another one to show you tomorrow that a friend made for me...I love how this one turned out using the all white colors, I call her the snow queen...but can't remember what the 'real' name of the pattern is..I have another one of her patterns made up in a Patriotic theme but she's packed away..no room for her to hang anyplace, I'm sad to say..

Walk on the wild side for a little bit, today, even if just in your mind!!
