On the work table

In between doing 'life' I've been able to squeeze in some time at the work table. Here is what's currently in line to be soldered:

This is the sample of my Intermediate class at the Crafty Scrapper. We will have it sometime in July. I'm using black quite often in my work..wonder what's up with that? I do know I Like the 'pop' it brings to the vintage colors. In the class you will learn to bead solder and attach to pieces. The attachment will be strong enough for wearables. This piece is larger, like the one we will be doing in Paper Cowgirl. Gives you more solder area and a larger bit of collage.

This one I'm having a hard time letting go of it....

I've acquired a few Frozen Charlotte Dolls, I've been making little shrines for them to live out the rest of their lives in. This one is about 2 inches tall and the box is about 3" so it's substantial. I am going to suspend it from a tube of glitter. It's going to look very 'arty' when I'm done. These little shrines have been filling up my mind lately..but, now the muse has struck, and I'm wanting to paint again!!

This time BIG..paint on our Doors in the Shop Shack..you know, I painted one to look like the Texas Flag.

Well, this time I've got ideas for the door that leads into the shop from the house..you'll just have to wait to see..I've not started it yet, but it's gellin' in my mind, and from what I see so far, it's going to look super cool.. I'm so glad my hub likes me being 'arty' ....

We are headed to the flea this weekend. Maybe some cool finds and photos to show you next week!!

Have a great Weekend!!

Spring has sprung here on the prairie.

Just a quick note today..I'm painting cabinets in freaking huge shop...

I did see a scissor tail, a robin and swallows all in the last 2 days! Spring has arrived here on 77 Ranch Road!! But no one told the wind to quit....it's quite blustery here, glad I'm working inside.

Don't forget to sign up for the give-O-way on yesterday's post!! Plus check out the other Cowgirls on the trail ride!!

Happy Wednesday!

Excitment at the Shop Shack

We have concrete at the entry ways!

Those guys did a good job:
Now the shop won't stay quite so dirty from all the dust blowing under the doors..and we have a place to wash the cars and Harleys...
I've been wanting to show you the "polka dot" tree:

Doesn't it look like Polka Dots hanging from it??

Did the black and white just for fun...
Have a great day!

Some left overs

I wondered around our place the other day, looking at the change in the flora...A few stray Sunflowers are showing out one last time..but most have seeded or been mowed over..

..a few escaped the mower last time he mowed..

These things, what ever they are..make me sneeze when they are blooming full out..

But I love the puffy dried mess they are at this point in time, they are so soft downy looking..yet brittle and hard...the lot next door is full of them..they are building a house over there and have not yet mowed anything on it..

These nasty bull nettles are here and there around the place, we are trying to get rid of them..for they are no fun to step on in sandals or barefoot or dogfeet as you can see:

Hub is going to make some cement pads at the north and south doors of the shop, so he's been framing that out for pouring in the next week or so..
We've been 'mouse hunting'...they are coming in finding out the shop is a nice cozy place to winter over..but Scooby has been on the hunt and caught a few with some help...
We went to buy a new table/chairs..came home with what we thought was the perfect set only to find the apron of the table busted and the legs wobbley after getting it out of the box..so back to Ashley they go and we have decided to build something..he's got a time limit of 20 days..We are doing metal legs and wood/maybe a tin top like the cabinets..My job is to find the perfect bar stool height chairs on a budget...
I'm adding a new little shrine to Etsy this week and my new banner should be ready soon by Ms Dale at Sea Dreams Studio....Can't wait to see what she comes up with for me~
Hope your week is a good one~

Remember when,

You where a kid, and got fussed at for slamming the screen door??? Well, now I have my own screen door! Hub put it up the other night, and boy I'm happy...open it up and the wind just flows thru the Shop Shack....

We put old License plates at the bottom of it for a kick plate..I love how it looks..

When you walk out of the screen door here is what you see:
We have a "Garage" with a house attached:
Hence the name our son gave our house, the Shop Shack~

So, when people ask where we live, I tell them a 'barn' it's much easier to say then a shop..But then they think we have animals..no animals here..just 'toys' I love my screen door and love slamming it as I walk out..no one fusses at me now~

Faux and faces

Here's the latest project I've had going. This cement porch has been covered with a product called Skim Stone.
I use layers of colors and it's applied thinly to cover up the concrete. You have a bit more control than with staining and it's a whole new layer added, so it can change the look and feel completely.
We added the logo 2 nights ago and last night I added the clear coat layer. This makes all the colors pop..

We have the Grands here until Sunday. So lots of playing outside while it's still cooler and then inside when it's hot..today is an expedition to the store for Polly Pockets. That is the favorite right now..

I was playing with the camera yesterday and got these shots:

Anytime things are happening you know they have to ask: "Whatcha Doin'???"

If they ask once, you know they are going to ask again:

Cindy added more Paper Cowgirl info yesterday and is to add more today, so go check it out! Our sign up Deadline is August 31st. and anyone after that it will be an additional 10$ until we have reached our limit. Teachers are getting ready, the sign ups are flowing in and it we are gathering vendors up for Friday's vendor night. So ya'll don't miss out and come play with us on September 26-28th!
Today: Make a good memory.

Big Daddy Cantelope

He's already married, to me! These little babies have been coming out of the garden lately!

If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that yesterday I got nothing done in the studio.
I worked out in the shop all day, it was 110 degrees yesterday..what a day to work in a tin building....But, I'd made up my mind and was going to consolidate all the boxes from our move, LAST YeAr...We have boxes of stuff I don't want to use in the shop shack. But, I'm going to use when we get the real house built, so it's going to have to stay in boxes and the boxes have to go somewhere..and right now they are in the middle of freaking huge shop and there is not any room for anything else. So I pushed, pulled, dollied, and emptied boxes and re-stacked boxes in a corner, now we have more open space.
It didn't seem hot until I found a thermometer and hung it up, eeeewww shouldn't have done that..I got the biggest part of it done, it was hot, I was dirty, but it got accomplished. For the most part.
Big Daddy was impressed with my work when he came home..he even went out there after dinner and did his own work...but it was too hot~to do much more..Then the buttermilk pie was ready and we both had to eat a piece of that while it was still hot! yummy..I'd not made a buttermilk pie in along time, it was good~

Other than Paper Cowgirl stuff, this is on my table in the studio waiting on me:
This is a big version of what I've done on the dominoes...I did a faux finish to the background..collaged on the papers, painted the goodies and shadowed it... I would say it's about 12x8, it still needs something, and so far it's not let me know what that something is....

These 2 pictures are on a Formica sample:

That's copper on the back, I'm not happy with that, and rub-ons are still giving me fits..I'm happy with the front..

Thanks Shannon for letting me know about my spelling error yesterday :) as you said, I'm not a COLLEGE prof...lol..you can see I do COLLAGE alot more than I did college..lol..

Andreea! Don't forget about our challenge!!!remember??

Errands and cement work are on today agenda. The rest of the week the Grands are visiting..

Thanks for all the fun comments on yesterday's post! I love my faux work, and I'm glad I can do something that makes me happy and pays the bills!

Ya'll be good today!
