Random Tuesday

Just a few random things that have been going on here lately...
The son got a 'new' old car...so, he and the hub have been 'piddling' with it..replacing parts and being motor heads...my part in it all was fetching glasses of tea and looking at the progress..

I finished up this canvas:
It has been just the background colors for at least a month..Then found this quote and decided that would fit perfectly..I love using up the alphabet collection I have..Do they have a word for that kind of 'sickness'??? I Love to find and buy up letters..old, new, metal, chipboard, stickers..I don't care..just give me alphabets..And I had to use one of my favorite cowgirl images..I am very pleased with this piece. The other one I posted a couple of weeks ago and this one will be up on Etsy as soon as I can take decent photos of them.
This is my new class at the Crafty Scrapper:

Beveled glass Christmas ornaments..we'll make a total of 4. Two of the 1x3s and Two of the 3x2s with the crystals and the crystal chain...Glass glitter is inside to glam up the vintage images and a bit of German scrap which will all be in the class kits!! We'll also bend the wire for the hangers..We are looking at an October date for this class..
Happy Birthday to my fren Jan T at the Polka Dot Barn blog..pop over and tell her happy Bday ;) she's just 24 ya know~
Have a great Tuesday ya'll!!
big ol' hugs,tee

Excuse my Muse

Please excuse my Muse as she butts in...

I was soldering away the other day..and who came in..Muse..she looked at a canvas that had been sitting on the floor staring at me for over a month..It only had the background colors and the girl/horse on it..I knew it needed more..just not what "more" it needed..But little did I know that Muse would strike~ So, I do believe it's almost finished, thanks to Her...

Have a great Wednesday :)
Waving to Andreea!! I miss you!!

Beautiful things...

Were found in my mail box:

From my friend Sharon @ all Norah's art...I cried when I saw that this. I had admired this wonderful piece on her blog the other day never knowing..she said she left a 'hint'...Sharon!!!! it's beautiful and seems the postal service must have loved it too for not a scuff or mark other than on the stamps were to be found :)

Inside were promised goodies! At Paper Cowgirl, Sharon had told me about the 'super duper' huge Watch/clock crystals she had and promised to share with me...so those were in there and a couple of her prints were in there too! Thank you soo much Sharon! Such a sweetie!

The setting sun was beautiful on this side of the shop shack this evening...

But then, the Moon was beautiful on that side of the Shop Shack.

I found a happy medium on the South end of the building and snapped away at both..

I almost burned the cornbread that was in the oven for supper:

It was good and crunchy..yummy with some butter on it while it was piping hot..Went with the stew that had been simmering the crock pot all day...

Here is the Door to the "man can"..hub's bathroom in the shop..
I'm making it look like the Texas flag..Tomorrow I'll add the star and the white section tomorrow after it all dries good tonight..

Here is one more of my Sally Jean versions of Home Sweet Home:

One more....hang on...

This is the table Hub is making..he's just finishing up the grinding and such so I can prime it tomorrow too..we are then painting it satin black..a red cedar plank top is going on next..
The huge canvas now has a bit of color on it..I glazed it with a bit of raw umber too today..

It all comes out in the wash

Hubby wants a mural on the wall..so I figured while I was having some 'down time' thanks to the swing in the economy I'd start it...So, I thought I'd do a rendering first..since the finished one is going to be 3 pieces of sheet rock big..This canvas I got at a good price over at Dick Blick Art, it was was cheaper than a stretched canvas.. I have it clamped to a piece of insulation foam board, and it's about 5ftX5ft...Have this bad boy staring you in the face for a couple of days..I know what I'm going to paint. Hub found a picture in an Art magazine he wants me to do..so that's not the problem..if you paint, you know that the problem is just picking up that first brush loaded with paint...

I'll keep you up on the process as it continues... in the meantime:

I have been looking at Sally Jean Alexander's "Pretty Little Things" book..that I've had since it came out a couple of years ago..I never seem to do projects that are in the books I buy..I read them books, I study the photos, I glean new ideas and techniques, but very rarely do I copy a project from one..But I did this the other day..no brainer..but it was fun..
As I was working on that sweet pearly girly project..my redneck, southern fried self came out..
This is what it said:

How's that??? Sorry..but, I can't see Miss Sally Jean in Cruel Girl jeans and a ball cap makin' home sweet home pearly girly signs in Texas..but I can see ME makin' these!
No offense to Sally Jean for she is the ruling Queen of soldering projects and such..but Trailer Trash is just more fitting in my part of the world..
Now I need to make a Shop Shack just for us here on 77 Ranch Road..don'tcha think??? It's going in my Etsy store..so, if you fit the picture or know someone who does..you'll know where to find it...

Finished at last

Those Cheep-O canvases I've been showing you..well they are done..see what you think:

Here they are in their new home:

I needed something in this long and skinny spot that is in our bedroom. I look at it everyday and it needed something.. I'm happy with it.

Those letters were some naked ones I picked up cheep at Hobby Lobby(their brand of chipboard), spray painted them black, then sponged on 'coffee bean' brown for a mottled effect. after they were added, I used a charcol pencil drew doodles and swirls then used a stump to smudge them..with a stump you can have more control over your smudging than just using your finger..Sprayed the whole thing with a matte sealer, then called it DONE..
So, hope this inspired you to use some cheep things to make some great Altered art~

Thanks so much to April for the purchase!!! yea!!! Love ya girlfriend!

And thanks all of ya'll for your comments!!

Ya'll have a good weekend!!

What's up in your world?

This was the sunset last night! Untouch with any program..this is just what I saw...
There was a huge storm coming thru and everything just glowed yellow as the clouds moved in, thunder/lightening/wind..but no rain for us out here on Ranch Road...
Thanks Melissa for my Cowgirl swap:

Here what's in the works right now:

Had a idea last night before bedtime and worked on these dominoes last night for about 30 mintues.... and added to those little cheap-o canvases too. More of those later.

Baked some creamcheese brownies last night~yummy..I have not baked in awhile..the shop shack smelled heavenly as they baked..what's better than Chocolate??

Thanks Paula Clare for purchasing 2 of my Cowgirl works!! Makes my heart sing for someone to like my work that much~~~

Have a Superlish day~

What's on the work table

These canvases were at Michaels for a buck a piece...in the kiddie crafts

For a buck each at 4x4 in size, I can slap on some gesso and get rid of the animals..but don't tell my Granddaughter..she thinks these were for her to paint..
Then added some background papers:

To be continued....

Have a great week!

Potty Flying

First off let me correct my spelling: Stephanie at Doojies not Doodies...Sorry Stephanie...my fingers were faster than my brain yesterday it seems...

As you know all week the grands have been here...well the 2 year old is potty training and doing very well...we go very often as you know you have to do..well the other day she was setting there, and spread her arms out and started flapping her chubby 2 year old hands up and down at the wrist..she looks up at me and says: "Nana, I'm flying...I'm Potty Flying..." That's a new one to me! Loved it and had to share it with ya~ Out of the mouth of Babes...

Yesterday while Grace was napping Sage and I played in the studio:
Mamas Don't let your Babies grow up to be Cowgirls

This one I tried something different for the base, an old game board..I think a scrabble one would be better...Those durn canvases are expensive! I can get them at Dick Blick Art for cheaper than Michaels or Hobby Lobby but then I have to wait on them to come in..I want instant gratification~
The Party road
The saying on this one comes from a Rober Earl Keen song, he's a Texas artist..and this song is a great sing along one...

Speaking of Michaels I used a 50% off coupon and picked up a book I have been lusting after:
Altered! art projects by Jill Haglund ...I love it..it's got some aswesome works from Deb Trotter and the likes in there... And at Michaels they have the Somerset Studios Gallery that I'm in..and I wanted to take it up to people and say: I'm IN this!! but I didn't...

Next week, I'm doing a faux job, so I won't have all this studio time...oh well, gotta pay the bills.

Ya'll have a great weekend!!

Even with 2 little ones around!! Started these canvases...

And look at the mess on my table! Cathy has a challenge on her blog to show off your mess..

Finished up this one and put it on Flickr(I'm CollageMojo there) last night..finished up 2 more later after wee ones were in bed..and started TWO more..I'm tellin' ya..I'm on a roll...I'm into these HUGE images and making them fill up the canvas, I'm going crazy with the printer on this one..It's those Cowgirls, I tell ya..they did it to me..

{See Jan, your not the only one who collects flatrustybottlecaps}

Mailed off my Cowgirl swap gifties..and received one today! I'll show you that tomorrow, Stephanie at Doojies really did me good~
