On the work table

In between doing 'life' I've been able to squeeze in some time at the work table. Here is what's currently in line to be soldered:

This is the sample of my Intermediate class at the Crafty Scrapper. We will have it sometime in July. I'm using black quite often in my work..wonder what's up with that? I do know I Like the 'pop' it brings to the vintage colors. In the class you will learn to bead solder and attach to pieces. The attachment will be strong enough for wearables. This piece is larger, like the one we will be doing in Paper Cowgirl. Gives you more solder area and a larger bit of collage.

This one I'm having a hard time letting go of it....

I've acquired a few Frozen Charlotte Dolls, I've been making little shrines for them to live out the rest of their lives in. This one is about 2 inches tall and the box is about 3" so it's substantial. I am going to suspend it from a tube of glitter. It's going to look very 'arty' when I'm done. These little shrines have been filling up my mind lately..but, now the muse has struck, and I'm wanting to paint again!!

This time BIG..paint on our Doors in the Shop Shack..you know, I painted one to look like the Texas Flag.

Well, this time I've got ideas for the door that leads into the shop from the house..you'll just have to wait to see..I've not started it yet, but it's gellin' in my mind, and from what I see so far, it's going to look super cool.. I'm so glad my hub likes me being 'arty' ....

We are headed to the flea this weekend. Maybe some cool finds and photos to show you next week!!

Have a great Weekend!!

Road Trippin'

Hub and I traveled alot this weekend..I drove to the Metroplex on Saturday, while he took the girls back home..we met that night at HOME.

Sunday we got up and headed down to the Austin area, he had some biz to do in that country..I go along to do the paperwork..

We ended up in this tiny tiny town, Granger. I was happy I had the point and shoot in my purse, for look what I found:

Wonderful old peely paint with crackles and rust!! What a texture find...lol..

Look at this place~ we think someone lived there..for a light was on upstairs and a stove pipe was out of one of the windows up there too...

I think I'm going to get Son to do his photoshop magic on these chairs, aren't they great?? I loved them all lined up like that and the colors and rust and textures..

Is it Mater???? I had to get this old fellow's photo..
Hope you enjoyed the trip to little townTexas..
We are starting Give Aways soon, over on the Paper Cowgirl blog!!
We'd love to have you visit the various Teachers blogs and see what they are going to give away.
Have a Great Day!

Shrine to Texas

This is my latest little Shrine necklace:
I'm really excited about it. In person, you can really see the depth and it looks really good..photos just don't seem to capture it all..sometimes.. I used an armadillo charm, The Cowgirl is cut out and at an angle in the corner, the Longhorn is a photo I took near Camp Verde, Texas, last year. Then behind that is a bit of road map of Texas, I think it's more up East Texas on that local..I added a matte finish silver chain to it.

I've just be lookin' at it..I've not put it on Etsy yet...May save it for Paper Cowgirl Vendor night..

These little boxes are really fun for me..I enjoy the whole process of finding and filling to make them one of a kind..

Be blessed today!

Soldered Glass House Swap

I threatened the Muse..told her to stay away and let me work on my swap...

I'm using a German book for the roof papers..My mother's family were from Germany. So that will be another connection to the photo in my houses. And actually a Great, Great, Great Grandfather was abducted by the Indians here in Texas, because of his German blond hair and blue eyes. It was 2 years before he could be bought back..isn't that some great Texas History??

I have been working on a few at time, then doing housework..seems that is never done, is it? And even with two of us in the house, you would think it would slow down..but noooooo
Using Old, Old leadger paper from my one and only leadger book I own..I have printed out the word: HOME to put in my roof area..I love how it come out..and the patina of the paper will add just the right touch on top of the German text..

I've also listed some new things on Etsy and worked on a few new key charms to solder when I start to solder up these houses..

Have a great day!

Altered Art and Friendships

Did I ever show you what Becky sent me for Christmas??? Becky is my AZ friend at Heart in my Hand blog.

She sent me a nice surprise box, with this wonderful Cowgirl piece in it. She used Mica, foamboard and other good bits and bob and Rusty goodness that I just adore... I just love it! I have it hanging where I see it everyday! Thanks again Becky!!! YOUR such a sweetie! I'm so glad we got to meet face to face at Mystic Paper.

This is my little thank you note, I sent Becky a couple of weeks ago!
Hope your Tuesday is going well and you join us in Praying for our New President today. Stop and take a moment to Pray for him and as he leads our Nation.

More walking

Yesterday, Blogger wouldn't let me upload..so here are some more of our walks:

This one has had NO tinkering..the sky looked that blue thru the lens..it was great..I just wished I'd taken my other lens, the bird would have been clearer and closer..next time..

This is on a gate, I love it:
All weather worn and was used a reflector on the gate...
This is my favorite fence post..lol..

All knotty and weathered and gnarly, just standing there, doing it's job holding up the fence that holds in, right now, 6 yearlings. They run every time we walk near..it's funny to watch them. They watch us to a certain point then turn tail and beat it...you would think they would be used to us, but not yet, I suppose.
I want to try to capture some of the birds we see..we flush a covey of quail almost every time we walk...they are usually in one of two places...the first time scared the bejeebies out of me..now I wait for it to happen when I get close and if it doesn't, I'm disappointed..We see hawks, field larks, sparrows, wrens..
Have a great day!

Good Will finds

Headed off to town. I was going after a hollow core door..hub is making me a computer desk in the studio's closet..we wired it for that when we built but just have not finished out that one little detail of a desk top..well, Good Will is just on the way to the Home Box store..so I had to stop..right?

Do you try to think about what you want to find when you are about to thrift? I do, I was thinking along the lines of a bingo or scrabble game today..

Instead, I found this:

These sweet baby pages came out of a Home Health Encyclopedia that was OLD..maybe as old as some of my friends who were born is the FIFTIES..snicker.. I took the pages I wanted out of it and just pitched the rest of it..I have way too many books and didn't need one full of medical jargon..
Found this cool old Texas tin tray..put it up with all my other collectibles in the kitchen..an older spool of velvet type ribbon..which was wonderfully aged and the red was not bright anymore so that was perfect..

Then the find I was not after:

It's worn and ragged and scribbled in, but for a buck, it was mine!! So, I came away from there smiling and high fiving myself over this little book, everyone lusts after..yea baby!
Have a great day and hope you find some goodies too !

I've added another little shrine called : Wild Thing to my Etsy...and there are more 'houses' in the works..

Here is the "man can" door in all it's Texas Glory!

Now to get into some more mischief...

Remember when,

You where a kid, and got fussed at for slamming the screen door??? Well, now I have my own screen door! Hub put it up the other night, and boy I'm happy...open it up and the wind just flows thru the Shop Shack....

We put old License plates at the bottom of it for a kick plate..I love how it looks..

When you walk out of the screen door here is what you see:
We have a "Garage" with a house attached:
Hence the name our son gave our house, the Shop Shack~

So, when people ask where we live, I tell them a 'barn' it's much easier to say then a shop..But then they think we have animals..no animals here..just 'toys' I love my screen door and love slamming it as I walk out..no one fusses at me now~

Coming and going

We've been all over the place the last few days..Austin, College Station, Wichita Falls, Bowie....

The Scoob when with us on the 'down South' trip..he was a good traveler and was always willing to hang out the window when it was open..

Sunday we headed to the flea in Bowie Texas, it's called Second Monday..it was hot! Let me tell you that~

After taking these photos, I put the camera in the bag and took on some serious shopping..Didn't find any goodies to alter though..but did find some goodies for the house..We picked up a Huge Huge Tim Cox print in an amazing frame..I've seen these in the stores for over 500$..got it for waaay less..that went in our bedroom..found some old licenses plates, we are going to use them as a kick plate on the screen door..found some galvanized stars for the walls, and local honey, hot sauce and peaches. Ate an amazing Chicken Fried steak for lunch then headed home..I'll be going back there...
We've got over 20 signed up for Paper Cowgirl! Come join our fun!! I was hoping to find goodies for vendor night, at the flea market..but not this time..I do have some canning jars full of goodies and packets of ephemera gathered up!
Hope your Monday is good..
