Altered Art and Friendships

Did I ever show you what Becky sent me for Christmas??? Becky is my AZ friend at Heart in my Hand blog.

She sent me a nice surprise box, with this wonderful Cowgirl piece in it. She used Mica, foamboard and other good bits and bob and Rusty goodness that I just adore... I just love it! I have it hanging where I see it everyday! Thanks again Becky!!! YOUR such a sweetie! I'm so glad we got to meet face to face at Mystic Paper.

This is my little thank you note, I sent Becky a couple of weeks ago!
Hope your Tuesday is going well and you join us in Praying for our New President today. Stop and take a moment to Pray for him and as he leads our Nation.

Birth of a Mural

Here is what I worked on Saturday:

This area is round, I then added these on the smaller walls:

All in all, I think it was about 6/8 hours of work..I did some then would stop to get away from it, then worked on it Sunday, and messed with it abit more yesterday. Liked what I had and signed my name to it..
Here is the ceiling:

That, I finished up yesterday with a final coat sprayed on with the HVLP sprayer. I love this ceiling...gives it a whimsical, open feel in this back hall area off the kitchen.
Almost finished up here and will begin the adventure home...see the hub and Scooby and then the rest of the family for the 4th holiday..I'm ready..
I'm bummed out though, looked down last night and the diamond had fell out of my wedding ring sometime yesterday after lunch. I remember washing my hands and picking paint out of it then..I've wore it everyday almost for the last 25 years...we bought it from hub's aunt, when we'd been married a year, she let us pay it out..it was about a quarter of a carat solitaire with just a nice medium wide band...dang...

Our Trip to the Dump

We went yesterday to the Town Dump in Cave Creek, here's my review:

The Town Dump was a very eclectic mix of Metals and wood...if you need a kitchen sink, they had one, hammered from copper at a reasonable price..if you need a Fredia Kohl painting, they had that...if you need something wooden from Mexico, they had that...if you needed something metal and rusty in finish for the yard or house, they had that..for the most part it was household/yard goods.

But they didn't have anything for altered artists to alter..or at least nothing struck my fancy there....so if you looking for household decorating things, this is a good place to go...

Look at this fine fellow:

He was made from car parts and metal doo-hickeys all welded together..this was not at the Dump, this was up the road....

I did find more my likings at this place that had a huge metal rusty T-Rex out front, we think the name was Wild Bill's but really couldn't tell...so if you see a T-Rex in the parking lot that's the place..it was the only one with a huge dinosaur. I did buy some stuff there and my host found some nice pots that didn't look southwest. It was a bit neater in appearance than the Dump.

It was not all play yesterday..finished up the mural I'd started on Saturday and did some rework on some mirrors she had that were not quite the right color anymore..so dabbed on a bit of glaze here and there to unify them with her black accents.

Then for dinner we ate at an amazing place in Scottsdale called : Bandera . I recommend it! If you are in or near that area, look it up and go. They had a great menu, it smelled wonderful inside, wood fire..and dessert was amazing..

I'm about to wrap it up here, maybe finish up tomorrow if all goes well today...

Hope your Monday is a good one and you can get IT done, what ever IT is...

Let's get this Faux on the road...

As promised, photos of what I've been up to here in AZ:

So, no more play time, and back to business for the next few days..this is just the first color for all the rooms, then I'm going back and adding other colors in layers...It's going to be yummy..

See this tiny looooong skinnnny spot? Who's ever idea this was, they were not in their right mind..an umbrella closed is about all that would fit there...try to get a ladder(and my big butt) 12/13 ft up to get glaze in that far corner..let me tell you, it was not easy...

Have a painted day!
I will!
