Beautiful things...

Were found in my mail box:

From my friend Sharon @ all Norah's art...I cried when I saw that this. I had admired this wonderful piece on her blog the other day never knowing..she said she left a 'hint'...Sharon!!!! it's beautiful and seems the postal service must have loved it too for not a scuff or mark other than on the stamps were to be found :)

Inside were promised goodies! At Paper Cowgirl, Sharon had told me about the 'super duper' huge Watch/clock crystals she had and promised to share with me...so those were in there and a couple of her prints were in there too! Thank you soo much Sharon! Such a sweetie!

The setting sun was beautiful on this side of the shop shack this evening...

But then, the Moon was beautiful on that side of the Shop Shack.

I found a happy medium on the South end of the building and snapped away at both..

I almost burned the cornbread that was in the oven for supper:

It was good and crunchy..yummy with some butter on it while it was piping hot..Went with the stew that had been simmering the crock pot all day...

Here is the Door to the "man can"..hub's bathroom in the shop..
I'm making it look like the Texas flag..Tomorrow I'll add the star and the white section tomorrow after it all dries good tonight..

Here is one more of my Sally Jean versions of Home Sweet Home:

One more....hang on...

This is the table Hub is making..he's just finishing up the grinding and such so I can prime it tomorrow too..we are then painting it satin black..a red cedar plank top is going on next..
The huge canvas now has a bit of color on it..I glazed it with a bit of raw umber too today..

It all comes out in the wash

Hubby wants a mural on the wall..so I figured while I was having some 'down time' thanks to the swing in the economy I'd start it...So, I thought I'd do a rendering first..since the finished one is going to be 3 pieces of sheet rock big..This canvas I got at a good price over at Dick Blick Art, it was was cheaper than a stretched canvas.. I have it clamped to a piece of insulation foam board, and it's about 5ftX5ft...Have this bad boy staring you in the face for a couple of days..I know what I'm going to paint. Hub found a picture in an Art magazine he wants me to do..so that's not the problem..if you paint, you know that the problem is just picking up that first brush loaded with paint...

I'll keep you up on the process as it continues... in the meantime:

I have been looking at Sally Jean Alexander's "Pretty Little Things" book..that I've had since it came out a couple of years ago..I never seem to do projects that are in the books I buy..I read them books, I study the photos, I glean new ideas and techniques, but very rarely do I copy a project from one..But I did this the other day..no brainer..but it was fun..
As I was working on that sweet pearly girly project..my redneck, southern fried self came out..
This is what it said:

How's that??? Sorry..but, I can't see Miss Sally Jean in Cruel Girl jeans and a ball cap makin' home sweet home pearly girly signs in Texas..but I can see ME makin' these!
No offense to Sally Jean for she is the ruling Queen of soldering projects and such..but Trailer Trash is just more fitting in my part of the world..
Now I need to make a Shop Shack just for us here on 77 Ranch Road..don'tcha think??? It's going in my Etsy store..so, if you fit the picture or know someone who does..you'll know where to find it...

Birth of a Mural

Here is what I worked on Saturday:

This area is round, I then added these on the smaller walls:

All in all, I think it was about 6/8 hours of work..I did some then would stop to get away from it, then worked on it Sunday, and messed with it abit more yesterday. Liked what I had and signed my name to it..
Here is the ceiling:

That, I finished up yesterday with a final coat sprayed on with the HVLP sprayer. I love this ceiling...gives it a whimsical, open feel in this back hall area off the kitchen.
Almost finished up here and will begin the adventure home...see the hub and Scooby and then the rest of the family for the 4th holiday..I'm ready..
I'm bummed out though, looked down last night and the diamond had fell out of my wedding ring sometime yesterday after lunch. I remember washing my hands and picking paint out of it then..I've wore it everyday almost for the last 25 years...we bought it from hub's aunt, when we'd been married a year, she let us pay it out..it was about a quarter of a carat solitaire with just a nice medium wide band...dang...
later,
