Redneck Yachat Club

Big Daddy had an idea...Boat Races! Across the tank..in our neck of the woods here in Texas, a small man made body of water for livestock to drink from is called a TANK..not a pond..sooooooo we have a tank..but not livestock..maybe some fish someday, but great for boat races right now..

Boats were made and sails set..the the big send off..

Then the big recovery...

try it again...

They are liking what they see this time...

A few more modifications..

YOU knew that was bound to happen...didn't you?? kids and water...

Boats forgotten, mud more fun for the moment..then off to clean up..I'm sure we'll have bigger and better boat races in the months to come. We received almost 5 inches of rain last week, so the tank is full to the top for now! We are most thankful for that...

Paper Cowgirl is riding right along...we are going to close registration on May 18th. So if your thinking about joining us for the fun, don't wait too much longer!!

Have a great week!

I have a give away planned this week, so keep in touch!

Strawberry time

We drove down the road to Charlie, Texas. A little spot full of pecan orchards, peach orchards and a few pick your own farms. Young's is where we stopped at.

Getting started..Big Daddy showing them what to pick and how...
You have to scope out the place and find the BEST ones

Looking for that ripe one

Then when you find the good one, You EAT IT!!

And Eat,

And Eat....

This was one of 3 baskets full we picked that day

And Eat....

But every once and a while a sour one get's ya~
We ended up that day with over 10lbs of strawberries..that's just what we paid for..who knows how many we ate...The little one decided that picking them out of the basket was way easier than finding them on a plant, so she just started picking there instead..
We had a great time and made some great memories. I took over 200 photos of them and now it's hard to weed thru them and keep the best ones..but thought I'd share a few with you..
Have a great weekend!
See you Monday, t

Soldered Glass House Swap

I threatened the Muse..told her to stay away and let me work on my swap...

I'm using a German book for the roof papers..My mother's family were from Germany. So that will be another connection to the photo in my houses. And actually a Great, Great, Great Grandfather was abducted by the Indians here in Texas, because of his German blond hair and blue eyes. It was 2 years before he could be bought back..isn't that some great Texas History??

I have been working on a few at time, then doing housework..seems that is never done, is it? And even with two of us in the house, you would think it would slow down..but noooooo
Using Old, Old leadger paper from my one and only leadger book I own..I have printed out the word: HOME to put in my roof area..I love how it come out..and the patina of the paper will add just the right touch on top of the German text..

I've also listed some new things on Etsy and worked on a few new key charms to solder when I start to solder up these houses..

Have a great day!

Chili Weather

BBBbbbBBBBbRRRRrrr..it's rather cool in this area the last couple of days..so, I thought I'd make a pot of chili..if you don't make chili and pour it out of a can, alls I can say to you is : Shame on YOU...this is some good stuff:

Don't let the name fool you..you can season it as hot or as not as you like..sometimes, I add the red pepper, sometimes I just wave the package over the pot and tell hub I did add it...This makes a nice sized pot and will feed us a few meals.. enchiladas, chili buns, Frito pie,(Frito pie can be a whole entry..football games and funny stories about out of state neighbors not knowing about it), abigoldbowl of red topped with cheese and sour cream, chopped onions or even chili fries..you can bet we are having a couple of these in the next few days..So, if you hunny is feeling frigid, run to the store for Wick Flower's chili kit and some ground meat and whip out a big pot and get busy, you'll warm him up in no time...
We've used this for years, I grew up on this 2 alarm..my dad used to make up a pot of it on cold Saturdays..One time back in the late 80's I wrote them a letter about how much we've used this and such..they sent me back a nice thank you letter and a TON of coupons..needless to say we didn't have to buy any kits for quite awhile..I'm tellin' ya, this is some good stuff...
Now back to decorating the Shop Shack..
Happy Tuesday!

Glue, Glitter and fun

At our house the question of the day is: "What are we making today, Nana?" when the grands are over..We had the oldest grand from Tday until yesterday..so we made alot of things, most all Christmas themed...

I've been over to Joli Paquet looking for ideas to make...you need to pop over there if you get a chance there are lots of ideas from talented gals.. So, when I answered: "A snowman hat." to that question, I received a funny look...so I pulled up the blog and gave her a peek at it..she loved the idea..

We got out handmade papers, glitter, containers and scissors, etc...and went to work:

She picked out the smaller container to make her hat from...

Hub was a bit upset that we were working on the NEW table, with glitter and glue and such:

But, I put down alot of paper to protect it and there were no incidents....

She loved using the glass glitter..

Here is the end result and the proud artist:

Here are both of ours:

We made memories and a pretty Christmas decoration that will work thru January...

I'm a member of Etsy Texas Crafters, you ought to go over there and see all the goodies that were listed with our group..some great talents!

I'm offering free shipping on all my House Charms in my Etsy shop, until December 6th...so if your looking for a little something different that might be the ticket! Thanks to all of you that have purchased goodies from me, I really appricate it and hope you enjoy it

I hope your first week of December is a good one, I started mine off at the Dr.'s giving blood for lab tests..nothing serious, thank goodness..

Wondering around

This week, I have been back in the 'hometown'...Keeping the grands at their house. It has been a good time, so far and wondering down memory lane..

While here, I've been wondering over old roads. Driving around town, remembering.
Who lived there, and how that house used to look so nice. How that house used to look so big and now it's really not...how it used to seem like a pain to find a place to park at the post office.

How it used to seem like so many cars were coming down the road when you wanted to get out in traffic...Going down thru the 'rich' neighborhoods and now they don't look so expensive..not after seeing and working in the McMansions of today..

How the grocery store only has few choices of salad dressing, instead of a whole isle of it...How nice it is to leave your house unlocked during the day while you putter around in it..how nice it is to know almost everyone in the bank when you go in..How nice it is to be able to park near the door at school to pick up the grand...

The place where I grew up was just 2 blocks away from where the #1 grand is going to K..the house is long gone, my mother sold it a few years after my dad passed away and the people who bought it moved it off, they were just wanting the land..we went down that road on the way to pick her up the other day. It was a sad road..the houses that are there are so very run down, it was full of older folks when we were living there, ..all the houses were neat and tidy little yards and walls painted and windows repaired..but not now... The huge pecan trees that were out front are in sad shape. My dad was always tending to them, getting the sprayed and triming them up when the need be...Our yard had flowerbed always full of something blooming now it's just pasture grasses and weeds....We had lived there from the time I was 5, so there were alot of memories on that road..All the times I rode my bike down that hill to coast all the way to the highway..Walking home from school..roaming the fields out back...watching out for rattle snakes, for my dad had drilled that into my head from day one..never saw one though..Did find a dead on in the front yard once, the gas meter guy had killed it when he was reading the meter, and left it.... skeerd the begeebees out of me..Running around the near by streets at Halloween, when I was old enough to go out alone..I'll just bore you with all the others, so we'll leave it at that..

The girls and I are going to paint crowns and hearts on their closet door and bedroom door today. Awhile back I painted swirls on the walls and butterflies/dragonflies. The oldest wanted princess crowns someplace and that seems to be the logical place on the doors..we'll have fun with it, they are going to help me.

Prayers are still welcome for our family...
Thanks for the ones you have sent up for us so far.
Thanks for the comments too!
