It's in the Mail!!

Monday morning, while going thru my emails, I find a Cloth Paper Scissors email. It's about their Charm Swap, all the details and such..well that was a few weeks ago, and I'd let it slide. I looked at the calender, and had 14 more days before the deadline..At that moment, I decided I wanted to do it. (Can you say: MANIC ART MOMENT??)

Well, that sparked a whole creative frenzy...I first printed off French posters for drinks, that I had got someplace or another, then I decided it need to be something totally me. Then it hit me...

Those photos I took at Granger last week. So, that is what I did..first it was the gas pump. That didn't translate too well small and cropped close. Then I decided on the old metal chairs..perfect..don't you love that when it happens??? I added the word Texas to the bottom edge and called it good. Printed off 5 tiny sizes and went to work.

Cut my glass down to 1x 1 1/2 and cut out all the tiny photos. Then found an old Texas road map and found the Austin area and used that for the back side. I taped and soldered them. Shined them up as I watched Martha Stewart. Then package them all up nice and neat. Even added a bit on the back about the photo. Packed them up and today sent them on their way with plenty of time! I can't wait to see what I get back, I hope there good~

If you are in this swap I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a comment!!

Have a great THuRsDAy!

Do you ever?

Get subtle messages?? While watching History channel last weekend. This episode about the Seven deadly sins came on. We watched the one about Sloth. Sometimes I think God is trying to get our attention. Those little pebbles; plink, plink, hit you in the head...it's God trying to tell you something he wants you to do or stop doing...Because, in the car on the way to College Station last Monday, 2 more times on two different shows, I heard things about the seven deadly sins and Sloth reared it's ugly head again! plink

On the trip home, I thought about all I'd heard, and decided something in that was meant for me.

Now to just figure it out...so today I kept busy around the house and in the studio and tried to stay off the computer too much until 'after hours'...maybe that's a habit I need to get into. This computer eats up your time rather quickly if all your doing is looking at other's blogs, etsy and such..I'd much rather have a few plinks of a pebble, than get hit upside the head with Brick from God, for I really think that's next, if you don't listen...

I'm trying..and today (Monday) was a good start, I felt like something got done and I was not wasting the whole day away..

Lord keep me strong for I am weak...
Have a great Tuesday!

Sunday was busy around the shop shack

We played outside:

We were on the 'hunt':
We picked flowers:
After swimming and lunch, we loaded up the stuff hub needed to go Dove Hunting, and Sage's goodies. Then they headed out take her back home and he to go hunting tomorrow, I was left alone...

I went into the studio..with a plan..Halloween was on my brain..and a technique I had read about here. And just as I got started my heat gun went and pooped out..I'd only had it about 8 years..go figure..So, loaded myself up to make an emergency run into town to Michael's. Did I just buy a heat gun? NoOooOOO..ended up bringing home some new pens, a flower punch, a good deal on a sketch book with 2 free Bristol board pads, and some quote stickers.
Had to stop at Starbucks too on the way home..was very disappointed..My Frapp was not very slushy at all it was just cold and very fluid..not what I had my taste buds set for..and low and behold, I was chosen to do a survey..I did that as soon as I got home, so maybe those Starbucks people will listen. I'll let you know if they do~

Back to the studio...I didn't follow all the directions Tim had there on his post..for I have NO Adirondack inks..so I used some dauber's I got at WM awhile back..spritzed the tag with water then inked them up after doing the embossing with the clear..I used a some stamps I picked up on super deep discount last year AFTER Halloween!
But isn't that what it's all about? Doing your own thing with what you have? Who has to follow the directions to a T ? Where are the direction Police?? That's what I love about creating things!!

Here's my little tip: Use one of those 'taste spoons' you get at the ice cream shop, in your embossing powder to control the amounts you need..doesn't make quite the mess as pouring it out over your work...

This is one of my hand cut stamps with the embossing ink on a tag:

Here is the batch I did...

This one is my fav:

I'm glad I got a new heat gun, this one works so good, I even had the paper smokin'~ not good..but didn't hurt anything!
This was a good afternoon.
I have to work tomorrow on some cabs for a client. So you have a good day off and hope you make something fun!
Later gator!
