Make a Wish

Here ya go...blow and make a wish, it's on me.
It's another overcast day here in the Prairie lands..maybe some more rain will come of it..it's chilly and depressing looking outside..so I'm just going to stay snug in the shop shack and clean house and play in the studio!
I have to tell you I'm obsessed with the Michelle Caplan work that is in Somerset Studios this month...and my friend in AZ, Becky is in this edition too!! Kudos to Becky!! Her foam core work got 4 pages!!! This is her first ever submission too!! You Rock Gal!!!!
Hope your day is what you make of it...

Sneak peek

Did you know this is what we are going to make in my class at Paper Cowgirl???

I'm offering 3 images and a few other sayings, so you can make it your own, but this is the basic idea!!

In between making play doh cookies with Grace, I wrapped up my swaps, this one is a peek at the Wizard of Oz Swap I'm in:

And you know what I did??? I wrapped up my Witch's Cupboard Swap, and took NO pictures..suppose Tonya, my partner will have to show ya'll what I gave her..my bad...

I'm off today to a Woman's Business Luncheon. I'm hoping to network with other ladies and maybe get my painting biz busier...Sally, a nice lady I'm working for now, goes to them and invited me...I think Sally is going to be a good friend too...

Hope your Thursday is good~

Wednesday's finds

While some folks slaved away today, I went to the thrift store..and boy did I find some goodies!!

Look at this cool little souvenir tray:

I'm going to display charms at it during Vendor Night at Paper Cowgirl!

I have no brown dominoes and had to get these even though there were only a dozen of them...

Then, these bring back memories....

My Granny Pack dipped snuff, and my grandpa Joe(my dad's parents) had a ruler like this, that I would get in trouble every time I played with it...He died when I was in K, she died when I was in 4th grade, they were married like in 1901 or something like that..for my mom has photos of their 65th Wedding Aniv, before I was born in 1965!!!

These were all in one little bag for a buck!

And last but not least, my favorite find of the day:

this camera bag caught my eye as I walked in the door, the customs stickers all over it and the great patina on the leather and brass latches...who can resist?? I think it would make a great purse! but not for me...I will just admire it for awhile in the studio..

We are going to an Aggie Graduation this week. 2 of our 'younger' friends are graduating and they asked us to join their families! thought that was really nice to be included..so if you don't hear from me, we are off in Aggieland...

have a great day!

Nothing to say until:

So, today was pretty uneventful...I couldn't get going this morning...but I did get out and ride the Harley into town to do some errands, and that was fun. Hot but Fun..it's been OVER 100 here for the last week and a half! It may be in the high 90's by the weekend..woohooo coldfront..whatever...

But then we came home this afternoon to this:
fire on 77 Ranch Rd 8-4-08
Not Good..we almost had an accident on the highway because of some rubber neckers in a little white car..so if your reading this, little white car: "your stoopid to just stop when traffic is behind you!"...then finally made it up to the Shop Shack...Ran in go the camera, hub got out the Razor and we were off to see what was going on.
Remember this barn? I wrote about it a few months ago:
fire on 77 Ranch Rd 8-4-08
This whole pasture was on fire, a farmer lost some hay and some other out building burned but we have not heard what else..they think it's arson.
fire on 77 Ranch Rd 8-4-08
This was really cool to watch..they were just so smooth and precise with it..but I did notice the Sheriff's car had been doused too..
fire on 77 Ranch Rd 8-4-08
Hub has to call his friend to see what all happened, it was her land, she owns 77 Ranch and this was part of it...
I would like the thank all the Volunteer Fire Departments that came out, several of the areas trucks were here to help.
I took a ton of photos, too bad blogger is being cranky tonight..
see you tomorrow..t
